A 22-year-old is in critical condition at “Gennimatas” Hospital following a shocking incident during a challenge. The young man, as part of the challenge, swallowed an entire burger without chewing it.

A 22-year-old is in critical condition and currently intubated at “Gennimatas” Hospital after swallowing a whole burger. The incident occurred in Korope, where the young man ingested the entire burger without chewing, as part of a challenge with his friends.
As a result, the burger blocked his airway, and the young man is now fighting for his life in the ICU, facing potentially irreversible damage. Matina Pagoni, former president of the Athens Union of Public Hospital Doctors (EINAP), discussed the incident and the young man’s condition on the “Buongiorno” show on Wednesday morning (12/11).
“These are tragic situations. A 22-year-old who went to Korope to have fun is now intubated in a very critical condition, with severe problems affecting his brain, kidneys, and all of his organs,” she said, emphasizing the severity of the situation.
According to Pagoni, the two young men had bet to swallow an entire burger, which caused the 22-year-old’s airway to become blocked. There was no one present to assist him with first aid.
“The ambulance arrived, they performed CPR, and he was transported to the hospital where he was intubated… You understand that the situation is very, very difficult,” she added.
