Actors go on strike on December 5 – Which performances are postponed

Many theaters will close on Friday, December 5, following the actors’ decision to go on strike.

As stated in an announcement by the Greek Actors’ Union, they are demanding the signing and implementation of the collective agreement, as decided at a general meeting.

The actors emphasize that “we will no longer tolerate months of rehearsals without pay while tens of thousands of euros are made in our name.”

They also call on producers to close advance ticket sales “to avoid inconveniencing audiences at theaters that are on strike.”

At the same time, they are calling for a protest rally in Voukourestiou Square at 7 p.m.

We are striking because we can no longer tolerate rehearsing for months without being paid. We are striking because we can no longer tolerate them making tens of thousands of euros in our name while we work without proper labor rights. We are striking because under these conditions we cannot do the theater we dreamed of. On Friday, December 5, the theaters will be empty because we will be on the streets”.
