Chania: Minor reports gang rape – 10 people arrested

A 17-year-old girl in Chania was the victim of a gang rape by five young men. The unfortunate girl, along with a 16-year-old from Bulgaria who were staying at a residential facility for minors, had gone out on Friday night.

The 16-year-old met with a minor at a tourist accommodation where, after using drugs, she engaged in a sexual act with his consent. There, the minor summoned other boys, who then invited the girls to a house, where the 17-year-old was gang-raped by five individuals.

The victim reported the incident to the authorities, who made a total of 10 arrests, including three mothers for neglecting their duty to supervise minors, the 16-year-old for drug-related offenses, three Greek nationals aged 21, 27, and 17, and two youths aged 15 and 18 for the gang rape of the victim, and a 21-year-old for sexual acts against the victim and for the illegal videotaping of the rape, which was found on his cell phone and clearly shows the victim’s refusal to engage in sexual acts.

All of the arrested individuals were brought before the prosecutor and are expected to appear before the investigating judge tomorrow to answer the charges.
