Course of Freedom: Diamantis Karanastasis resigns as MP

Diamantis Karanastasis said he is putting an end to a “cycle of almost ten years” of political activity. Without specifying the exact reasons for his decision, he noted that he is bringing back to the forefront his core identity: Culture, to which he is now returning.

He stated that he entered politics “for Culture,” as he feels and serves it through his work, adding that he fought for it “in every proposal, every intervention, every corridor.”

However, he added that he tried “to shift something that cannot be shifted,” linking his resignation to what he described as the “filth” and toxicity of the political environment.

“The most important reason I decided to be in Parliament during this cycle is Culture […] My endurance for creation has no limits. My tolerance for filth, however, does,” he wrote.

In another part of his post, he expressed his warm thanks to Zoe Konstantopoulou “for the invaluable blank check I always had in each of our thousands of conversations. She deserves so much, many more victories.”
