New information about the disappearance of the 16-year-old girl from Patras, who is believed to be in Germany, according to EL.AS spokesperson Konstantia Dimoglou.

New information about the disappearance of 16-year-old Lora has come to light, as, following the video released by a travel agency’s security camera, in which Laura can be seen buying a plane ticket to Frankfurt, the spokesperson for the Hellenic Police, in statements made to ERT on Saturday morning (January 31), revealed that the 16-year-old had already landed in Germany when her disappearance was reported.

“Lora disappeared in the early hours of January 8 from the area where she lives in Patras and arrived in Athens immediately, as it appears she took a taxi, as revealed in the following two days by video footage in the possession of the police, and it appears that she bought a ticket for 5:30 p.m. to a city in Germany. When her parents arrived at the police station around 8 p.m. to report her disappearance, the child had already landed in Germany,” said Konstantia Dimoglou.

However, she left open the possibility that the 16-year-old may not have traveled abroad after all, as she pointed out that “unfortunately, even though three different documents have been issued three times (12, 16, and 18/01) to all the companies with which one can travel by air to Germany, there is one large company, which we know issued the ticket in question, that never responded to the Greek police, even though the third reminder stated that there was a risk to this child’s life.”

He added that “although we had no official information as to whether the child had traveled in the first 24 hours, the police, through Europol, contacted the German authorities, as there was a relative there. The German authorities replied that Laura was not with her brother. However, they knew that the Hellenic Police was looking for this child in Germany and were informed that if she was found anywhere in Germany, the Greek police should be notified.

As Ms. Demoglou pointed out, “the child leaves Omonia from the specific travel agency, gets on a bus that takes travelers to the international airport, and it appears that he did indeed travel from there, without, I repeat, this having been confirmed neither the airline nor the German authorities. We believe that she has somehow arrived in Germany, which is precisely why all traces of her have been lost in our country. A relative of hers has been found by the German authorities, but of course they cannot give us any information. We have also contacted other countries where she had relatives, but it seems that the child has no contact with them.

Why did Lora disappear?

The reasons for her departure have not been clarified, however, a friend of hers stated that she found it difficult to adjust to the change of environment when her family moved from abroad to Greece.

“In general, she had mentioned to us many times that the change from Germany to Greece was very difficult for her. Until she got to know people, until she learned the language, and along with all that came difficulties at school.”

In fact, according to ERT, relatives of the young woman in Germany reported that her relationship with her father was particularly conflictual. Specifically, there is information about abusive behavior by her father towards her.

This is said to have been the reason why she was temporarily housed in a facility in Germany.
