Disappearance of Laura: Videos from Zografou and a mysterious man under scrutiny

The search for 16-year-old Laura, who vanished from Rio in Patras, continues as she remains missing for a seventh consecutive day.

Authorities have put under the microscope videos from the Zografou district in which the minor can be seen. In addition to the initial footage showing her arriving in Athens by taxi and later moving along Mikras Asias Street, investigators now also have new material in which the 16-year-old appears at a café on the same street, as well as at a local pharmacy.

According to witness accounts, she was also spotted at a supermarket in the area and at a jewelry store, again on Mikras Asias Street, where she attempted to sell jewelry she had in her possession.
“She asked me if we buy gold. We told her that we don’t buy gold and that she could go to a colleague further down the street. It didn’t cross our minds when we saw her that this girl was 16 years old,” the jewelry store owner told Mega TV.

This was not the only time the minor tried to sell valuables, as another jewelry store owner stated that she too was visited by the 16-year-old on Saturday morning.

Authorities believe that Laura is staying in an apartment in Zografou, near the university campus, and that she has the support of an individual who was waiting for her in Athens, where the minor has been since last Thursday.

The Hellenic Police (EL.AS.) suspects that this person is someone she met through social media.

The reasons for her disappearance have not yet been clarified. However, a friend of hers said that she was struggling with the change in environment following her family’s move from abroad to Greece. “In general, she had mentioned many times that the change from Germany to Greece was very difficult for her. Until she got to know people, until she learned the language, and along with all that came difficulties at school.”

Moreover, according to reports by ERT, relatives of the young girl in Germany stated that her relationship with her father was particularly conflictual. Specifically, there are reports of abusive behavior by her father toward her. This is reportedly the reason why she had been temporarily hosted in a care facility in Germany.
