A 42-year-old man was arrested in connection with the murder of a 64-year-old, which was committed in the early morning hours of April 11 in Thessaloniki.
A case file was formed against the 42-year-old for intentional homicide. The suspect also lived in the area, in a shack.
The 64-year-old was found dead on April 11 by a passerby, under a small bridge near a stream in an area of Thessaloniki. During the on-site examination conducted at the crime scene, it was established that the body bore severe crushing injuries to the head, while the autopsy revealed that these were caused by a blunt object.
The investigation showed that the murder took place in his home and that the body was then transported and discarded from the bridge at the location where it was found.
Following the combined assessment of information and evidence, and actions taken by officers of the Homicide and Personal Liberty Unit, the suspect was quickly identified. His involvement in the case was confirmed through the combined use of data obtained from on-site forensic examinations carried out by officers of the Northern Greece Criminal Investigations Sub-Directorate, the discovery of items in his possession linked to the crime scene, as well as the forensic medical examination.
The arrested man was brought before the competent prosecutorial authority.

The case of the murder of a 64-year-old Greek national, which was committed in the early morning hours of April 11, 2026, in Thessaloniki, was solved by the Department for Crimes against Life and Property of the Northern Greece Organized Crime Division, with the assistance of the Northern Greece Criminal Investigations Sub-Directorate.
A 42-year-old Greek national was arrested in connection with the case, and a case file was formed against him for intentional homicide. Specifically, regarding the background of the case, in the morning hours of April 11, 2026, the 64-year-old was found dead by a passerby under a small bridge near a stream in an area of Thessaloniki.
