Farmers decided on the future of their mobilizations at the Nikaia blockade during a general assembly held on Tuesday afternoon (January 20).

The farmers decided on their next steps during the general assemblies of the blockades that took place on the afternoon of Tuesday (January 20). After 52 days at the blockades and a meeting with the government, they made their final decisions for the future of the mobilizations.

At 6 p.m. today, the assembly was held at the Nikaia blockade, with similar procedures taking place at the same time at the Karditsa blockade on E-65, as well as at the Trikala blockade.

Specifically, the farmers at the Nikaia blockade decided to hold a rally with tractors in Larissa next Friday.

According to their plan, after the rally, they will leave the blockade, and in the following days, they will reorganize their forces.

However, it remains possible that within the next 14 to 20 days, a nationwide conference will be convened again, with a proposal to organize a rally in Athens, as part of continuing and escalating the agricultural mobilizations.

After a general assembly lasting about two hours, the farmers at Kastro, Boeotia, finally decided to leave the blockade and remove their tractors from the roads by 12 p.m. on Friday. “We believe that we no longer have anything to gain by staying at the blockades,” said Kyriakos Kyriatzis, President of the Orchomenos Agricultural Association.

Meanwhile, after 48 days on the road, the farmers at the Derveni blockade are leaving and returning to their homes.

The decision to leave the E-65 Karditsa blockade was also made by the farmers, livestock breeders, and beekeepers of the region.

The date of departure will be decided in tomorrow’s (January 21) meeting at 12:00 p.m. at the Sofades Cultural Center, after a vote by 60 representatives from the villages of the region.

According to KarditsaLive.Net’s report, this decision was made at today’s (January 20) assembly at the blockade, after evaluating the struggle and receiving an update on the meeting between a delegation from the Nationwide Blockade Committee and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Maximos Mansion on January 19.

In his speech, Kostas Tzellas, President of the EOASK, made it clear that the struggle would continue in another form. He announced the organization of a rally in Athens in the near future, after a nationwide conference of the blockades.

In contrast, farmers at the Malgara and Loggos Trikala blockades remain on the roads. “The unanimous decision of the Malgara blockade assembly was to stay on the roads at least until Friday, always keeping the roads open,” said Konstantinos Stefis, President of the Kymine and Malgara Agricultural Association.

Where the tractors have already left:

At the same time, some blockades have seen departures, such as the one at Prasina Fanaria, where all tractors left in the evening, opening the road to the airport. The roads are also open at the Selio Junction, towards Veria, and sections of the Egnatia Highway.

Additionally, tractors have left the blockade at Mikrothives.
