Photographic documents that depict the 200 communists shortly before they were led to the firing squad, in May 1944, appeared in an auction on eBay.

Photographic documents that reportedly capture the final moments of some of the 200 communists executed by the Nazis in Kaisariani have come to light.

The photographs were put up for auction on eBay by a seller from Belgium and are said to date back to May 1944.

According to the seller, the images come from the collection of the German sergeant Hermann Hoyer, who was serving in a battalion based in Malakasa.

The photos were also published by historian Iasonas Chandrinos, on his own profile.

In the photographs, resistance fighters can be seen being led to the firing squad—faces that may possibly be identified by their relatives, provided that family archives exist.

However, the authenticity of the photographs has not yet been confirmed.
