U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle attended a ceremony on Tuesday morning (November 11) at the Phaleron War Cemetery, commemorating those who fell in the two World Wars.
The ceremony marked the 97th anniversary of the end of World War I on November 11, 1918.
Alongside Guilfoyle, the ambassadors of the United Kingdom and France, as well as military officials and representatives of various organizations, were also present.
In a post on X, Guilfoyle wrote:
“It was an honor to join our French and British allies in Greece at two solemn ceremonies for November 11, commemorating the Armistice that ended the First World War.
By laying wreaths together, we pay tribute to all who served and sacrificed — among them more than 100,000 American soldiers who gave their lives.
This day reminds us of the cost of war, the strength of our alliances, and our shared responsibility to safeguard peace and freedom.”
