On Thursday afternoon, Kimberly Guilfoyle met with Archbishop Ieronymos.
The new ambassador arrived at the Athens Archdiocese Headquarters in her motorcade shortly after 12:00. She was greeted at the entrance by the archbishop’s associates, who then escorted her to the second floor of the building, where the archiepiscopal throne room is located.
During their meeting, Kimberly Guilfoyle and Archbishop Ieronymos discussed humanitarian issues as well as the relationship between the Church and the embassy.
This was the first meeting between the U.S. ambassador and the head of the Greek Orthodox Church, and she expressed that it was both an “honor and a blessing.” She eagerly looks forward to “a fruitful relationship with the Church.”
She also mentioned that she would attend religious services and shared that her 19-year-old son was extremely happy that his mother had met the Archbishop.
Kimberly Guilfoyle revealed that when she was offered the U.S. ambassadorship, the first person she called was Archbishop Ieronymos to discuss the opportunity with him. He played a significant role in her decision to come to Greece.
