The 64-year-old man who was wanted for sexually assaulting 25-year-old twin sisters with disabilities in Kypseli surrendered to the police following their mother’s complaint.
Specifically, at midday on Tuesday (24/02), the 64-year-old suspect, accused of attempted rape against a woman with a disability, appeared—accompanied by his lawyer—at the Athens Sub-Directorate for Crime Prosecution and Investigation.
It is recalled that, according to the complaint made by the mother of the two women, the incident occurred in an apartment in Kypseli shortly after 10 a.m. on Saturday (21/2), while she was away. As she claimed, the 64-year-old entered the home and allegedly sexually abused one of her twin daughters, while he is also alleged to have attempted to assault the second.
The mother realized what was happening through cameras installed in the apartment. As she described, she saw one of her daughters crying and immediately returned home.
When she arrived, she grabbed a frying pan and a knife and began chasing the 64-year-old in an attempt to catch him; however, he managed to escape and immediately called the police. Meanwhile—in a graphic video document which NEWS 24/7 has chosen not to reproduce—he can be seen brutally striking the mother with slaps, punches and kicks to her face.
Police officers from the DIAS unit rushed to the area and launched a search to locate the 64-year-old, while an EKAB ambulance transported one of the 25-year-olds, who had sustained minor injuries, to Thriasio Hospital. The young woman was examined by a forensic doctor.
The 64-year-old was known to the family
According to the complaint, the alleged perpetrator had been known to the family for years, as he had met the mother through a local parish and was said to occasionally assist with errands and shopping, which allowed him access to the apartment.
The case is ongoing, and the results of the forensic examination are pending.
