Traffic regulations will be in effect in central Athens today, Saturday (06/12), due to the events commemorating the 17th anniversary of the murder of Alexandros Grigoropoulos. Some metro stations will be closed.

Due to the gatherings and marches organized in memory of Alexandros Grigoropoulos, there will be extraordinary traffic regulations in central Athens during the midday and afternoon hours on Saturday, December 6th.

As stated in a related announcement by the Hellenic Police, “These traffic regulations will be implemented gradually, depending on the prevailing traffic conditions, and the Traffic Directorate of Attica has designed measures to facilitate the flow of traffic in the broader area of central Athens.”
For this reason, drivers are advised to avoid the movement and parking of their vehicles in the wider area of the event venues, both for their convenience and to avoid additional traffic issues.

Additionally, by order of the Hellenic Police, today, Saturday, December 6th, the “University” Metro station will close at 9:00 AM, and the “Syntagma” station will close from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM, then reopen at 5:00 PM. Trains will pass through these stations without stopping.
