A new development has emerged in the case of the double murder in Finikounta, as the victim’s nephew was arrested on Wednesday morning, accused of being the mastermind behind both the attempted murder of his uncle on September 7 and the double murder of his uncle and the camping manager on October 5.
Additionally, a businessman, a friend of the nephew, was arrested, also accused of being the mastermind.
According to information, the two individuals were found and arrested at a house in Voula, owned by the businessman.
Meanwhile, the judicial authorities issued a third arrest warrant for a man accused of complicity. This individual, who is still being sought, is believed to have transported one of the perpetrators of the double murder out of Kalamata.
It is worth noting that the authorities had previously arrested two 22-year-olds as the physical perpetrators of the double murder. They have been blaming each other as to who fired the shots that killed the uncle and the manager.
How the nephew was traced
The judicial authorities continued their methodical investigation after the detention of the two 22-year-olds, taking into account testimonies from the victim’s relatives and conversations.
From the outset, the police suspected that the motive behind the murder was financial.
They began examining the will of the 68-year-old victim, which he had written on October 2, 2025, just three days before his murder, and which had been deposited with a notary on the same day.
The victim left almost everything to his nephew, the son of his brother, and made him a joint holder, alongside the camping manager who was also murdered, in the bank deposits. The victim’s estate was worth 30 million euros.
This will overturned a previous one, written a year earlier.
To the camping manager, who was the second victim of the murder, the 68-year-old bequeathed an 8-acre plot of land and 50% of a farmland.
In statements, the nephew’s lawyer, Giannis Verras, pointed out that his client “denies the charges and is in a terrible psychological state.”
The timeline of the murder
The murder occurred on Sunday, October 5. At that time, the nephew had claimed that the perpetrator had shot not only the two victims but also him, but missed all the bullets, allowing him to escape to the camp’s dining area, where he called the 32-year-old businessman from Athens using his partner’s mobile phone.
The authorities had noted contradictions in his statements from the start, but until then, nothing had connected him to the double murder.
On October 14, the two motorcycle riders were arrested. Throughout the investigation, they contradicted each other, blaming each other for the shooting.
