Two individuals are facing felony charges for grievous bodily harm in relation to the murder of a 20-year-old in Kalamaria, after forensic findings indicate an attack on the 23-year-old perpetrator.

The two individuals involved were reportedly present at the violent incident that led to the death of 20-year-old Kleomenis a week ago in Kalamaria, Thessaloniki. One of them, a 19-year-old who had voluntarily surrendered to the authorities, and another individual who is still being sought, are facing felony charges for causing grievous bodily harm.

After examining a request submitted to the 1st Regular Investigator of Thessaloniki by the defense of the 23-year-old, who admitted to committing the murder, to elevate the charge to a felony, the Prosecutor’s Office proceeded with the charges against the two individuals for grievous bodily harm.

In addition to this charge, the two individuals are also facing misdemeanor charges for gang activity and possession of items capable of causing bodily harm— the second charge being aggravated by provisions of the new Sports Law. Under these circumstances, the 19-year-old, who has been in custody since last Sunday, was scheduled to testify today, but requested a postponement to provide an explanation on Saturday morning, when his legal treatment will be determined. He was released until then due to the expiration of the maximum allowable detention period.

Reports indicate that the request to upgrade the charges is linked to forensic findings describing blows to the head, face, and body with unspecified objects. The 23-year-old, in his statement to the investigator, claimed that he committed the crime in self-defense during an attack outside his home.
