One arrest made in the Neos Kosmos case instead of four, as initially reported.
A 29-year-old man has confessed to the authorities that he fought with the victim over a misunderstanding on the street. A video from the scene where the argument started and the subsequent pursuit of the victim was also found.
The suspect claimed that he acted alone, and as a result, the other three Greeks who were detained will likely be released. One of them will be examined to determine whether he will be charged, as the motorcycle involved was his and he had lent it to the perpetrator. The prosecutor will decide whether the father of the individual who attempted to hide the motorcycle will be charged with harboring the perpetrator.
Details of the case
The victim lost consciousness on Souli Street after being beaten and fell into a parked vehicle. He had visible bruises and injuries to his face and head, and was transported to the “Evangelismos” Hospital, where he died from cardiac arrest.
It is noted that the perpetrator had previous run-ins with the law for disobedience and causing bodily harm, while one of the other individuals involved had a history of thefts.
Forensic findings consistent with assault
According to the results of the autopsy, the forensic pathologist determined that the victim had facial and neck injuries due to the reported beating, along with pulmonary edema and heart hypertrophy, for which histological samples have been taken.
In short, it has been confirmed that the victim was indeed brutally assaulted. The high emotional stress the victim was under, coupled with these injuries, led to the cardiac arrest.
