The nationwide taxi drivers’ strike continues today, Wednesday (March 18). The announcement came from the Panhellenic Federation of Taxis.

The nationwide strike by taxi drivers continues today, Wednesday (March 18), following an announcement from the Federation on social media on Tuesday (March 17).

“The first day of the nationwide strike and the overwhelming participation of the sector highlighted the message of unity and resistance against everything contained in the bill, which is being discussed in Parliament from today. We continue the strike nationwide tomorrow as well, as our representatives will submit our proposals and demand all our just requests,” the announcement emphasized.

Why Are Taxi Drivers Striking?

In an announcement issued by the Panhellenic Federation of Taxis on Monday (March 16), when the nationwide indefinite strike was announced, it stated:

“Following the unanimous decision of the Federation’s Board and in full alignment with the decision of the Sectoral Council, we are starting nationwide strike actions from Tuesday, March 17, and for as long as the bill is being discussed in the committees of the Parliament in the coming days.

Especially on the day when our representatives will be in the committees to submit their objections, the entire sector will be outside, just like on the day of the bill’s vote.

We do not agree with:

The mandatory nature of electric vehicles in Article 67 without any extension.
The provisions of Article 52 that favor private cars with drivers.
The additions of violations regarding the special license in Article 41.

We call on all Federations nationwide to participate and support all strike actions for the just demands of the sector. Tomorrow at noon (i.e., Tuesday), after the first session of the committees, you will be informed about the progress of developments and the continuation of our mobilizations and actions.”
