The storm has been sweeping through western Attica since the early morning hours, bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms, causing significant problems in areas such as Megara, Nea Peramos, and Mandra.

Roads in many parts of the country have turned into rivers following the intense passage of Storm Byron across various regions.

The storm has been sweeping through western Attica since the early morning, with heavy rain and thunderstorms, causing significant disruptions in areas like Megara, Nea Peramos, and Mandra.

The Athens-Corinth highway is closed from the Elefsina tolls towards Corinth due to landslides and accumulated water. A long queue has formed at the Elefsina toll station as vehicles are redirected to a detour after traffic was halted near Nea Peramos.

Problems are also being reported in the southern suburbs, Piraeus, western Attica, and the municipality of Athens.

It’s worth noting that, in many instances, drivers have been trapped in their vehicles for hours, with some fighting against the rushing waters.
