The police imposed a ban on public outdoor gatherings on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. in areas both in the centre of Athens and in the northern suburbs, on the occasion of the Ukrainian president’s visit.

Under tight security measures, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will visit Athens on Sunday (16/11).

For security reasons, the times of the Ukrainian president’s meetings with the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister have not been announced, as is the case with all of Zelensky’s trips.

As part of these measures, a ban on gatherings was also decided for central Athens and Psychiko.

Specifically, by decisions of the Directors of the Athens Police Directorate and the North-East Attica Police Directorate, all public outdoor assemblies are prohibited on Sunday, 16-11-2025, from 06:00 until 22:00 in the following areas enclosed by the streets:

Municipality of Athens

Vas. Konstantinou Ave – Vas. Olgas Ave – Vas. Amalias Ave – Xenofontos – Filellinon – Syntagma Sq – Stadiou – Amerikis – Lycavittou – Il. Rogakou – Kleomenous – Ploutarchou – Rizari – Vas. Konstantinou Ave.

Municipalities of Filothei–Psychiko and Chalandri

Kifisias Ave – Vekiarelli – Griva Digeni – 25th Martiou – Bizaniou – Korytsas – Benaki – Kokkoni – Kifisias Ave – Agamemnonos – Ag. Varvaras – Serron – Kifisias Ave.

As noted in the announcement of the Athens Police Headquarters (GADA), the above ban is imposed because public assemblies pose a serious risk to public safety due to the possible commission of serious crimes, particularly against life, physical integrity and property, and because they seriously threaten to disrupt the socio-economic life of the affected areas.
