SOOC

The taxi strike is continuing for a third day, as decided by the Association of Taxi Drivers (ΣΑΤΑ). It will extend to Thursday, December 4th, following heightened tensions earlier outside the Ministry of Transport.

The strike was initially called for a 48-hour period by the Panhellenic Federation of Professional Taxi Drivers (ΠΟΕΙΑΤΑ), demanding urgent action on a series of issues. The federation’s key requests include:

  • Extension of the electric vehicle mandate until 2035.
  • Combatting unfair competition posed by multinational ride-hailing services.
  • Immediate action against the theft of work by private cars (E.I.X.).
  • Increase in fare rates and the minimum rental charges across the country.
  • Re-negotiation for allowing loaded taxis into dedicated lanes.
  • Implementation of outstanding issues from pending legislative bills.
  • Adjustment of taxi fare tariffs.
  • Fair tax treatment for the sector.

The drivers are demanding a meeting with the Ministry of Transport, and if their demands are not addressed, they are prepared to escalate their actions further .
