A 45-year-old woman was injured to the head and neck at a shopping mall in Thessaloniki after a significant section of a shop’s ceiling became detached and collapsed.

Scenes of terror unfolded at a shopping mall in Thessaloniki when the ceiling of a shop collapsed while large numbers of people were moving through the corridors.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon (10/1) at a food service outlet inside the shopping centre.
According to information available, a 45-year-old woman was injured to the head and neck. It was reported that she remained conscious and was transported by EKAB ambulance services to Papageorgiou Hospital.
Until the ambulance arrived, security staff set up portable screens to shield the injured woman and to keep the public away from the area.
It is noted that panic broke out at the time of the incident, as the restaurant area was crowded.
