Thessaloniki: How the murder of the 20-year-old happened

Investigations by the Sub-Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of Northern Greece are in full progress to locate the perpetrator of the bloody altercation in Kalamaria that resulted in the homicide of a 20-year-old organized PAOK supporter.

According to information, the perpetrator has reportedly been identified and is said to be an organized supporter of Aris. What authorities are examining as a possible sequence of events is that the 20-year-old PAOK supporter had set up an ambush with two of his friends for the perpetrator in order to attack and beat him, and during the altercation the also young perpetrator stabbed the victim in the chest.

Immediately after the act, the perpetrator fled the scene. The victim was an organized supporter of PAOK. However, he had previously come to the attention of the authorities for participation in a criminal organization, robberies and causing bodily harm, as he was part of a group that “trapped” men under the pretext of meeting an underage girl and then beat and robbed them.

The victim was transported to AHEPA Hospital in Thessaloniki, where he died. From that moment the authorities launched an investigation to identify everyone who participated in the incident and to fully clarify the motives behind the attack, while at the same time detentions are being carried out to locate all those who were present.

What the spokesperson of the Hellenic Police says

The spokesperson of the Hellenic Police (ELAS), Konstantia Dimoglidi, speaking to ERTnews Radio 105.8, said that “there is still no information that leads us to believe that this is an incident related to fan-based motives, and I clarify this because the specific young man has never been involved in such types of offences”.

As she added, “this is something that will of course be investigated, because in every such case the possibility of fan-related motives is examined. However, so far there is no evidence linking this incident to fan-based motives”.

When asked whether it could have been a case of a personal dispute, she said: “this is also being examined; we will see. I think that during the day we will have some result, at least regarding the direction the investigations will take”.

The video evidence

Meanwhile, video evidence from the moment the 20-year-old victim of the deadly attack in Kalamaria, Thessaloniki, collapses has come to light.

In the video broadcast by ERT, the 20-year-old can be seen running and then collapsing injured next to a trash bin.

Two other individuals are also seen walking near him, whose identities have not yet been clarified.

In a new video from Voria.gr, the victim of the attack is seen leaving Papadimitriou Street walking with difficulty while two individuals run ahead of him. The 20-year-old appears unable to follow them and walks slowly, as he had already received the fatal stab wound.

According to information from NEWS 24/7, the victim, born in 2006, had been identified as one of the perpetrators who set up ambushes against alleged pedophiles. Confirmed information states that he was a PAOK supporter.

NEWS 24/7 had previously published an extensive report on the Pedohunters group, which was active in western Thessaloniki. Recently, members of the group had been prosecuted for forming a criminal organization and causing dangerous bodily harm.
