The police had given an ultimatum for the farmers to open the port by 1:00 PM on Wednesday (December 10).
The farmers, who had blocked the passenger port gate, responded to the deadline by declaring that they would remain with their agricultural vehicles. Specifically, the tractors left to return to the blockades in Mikrothives and Larissa, while the agricultural vehicles will remain on the road in front of the riot police trucks.
A strong presence was felt by the farmers in the port of Volos. From the morning of Wednesday (December 10), farmers arrived with dozens of tractors, while strong police forces were stationed at the scene. The farmers had blocked both land and sea access to the port. In addition to the farmers with their tractors, fishermen from Magnesia had also surrounded the area by docking their boats, closing off sea access.
E-food delivery workers, along with several workers and students from Volos, set up loudspeakers in front of the passenger port, while the commercial port was practically blocked by riot police trucks. Meanwhile, hundreds of farmers from the Nikaia and Karditsa blockades arrived by car to show their support.
Nassos Iliopoulos, a member of parliament from the New Left, was also present. Earlier, thirty tractors from the Mikrothives blockade had lined up in front of the passenger port of Volos. Three riot police trucks and many police forces were stationed inside the port to prevent their entry. The farmers negotiated with the head of the police forces, expressing their intention to head toward the commercial port.
Dozens of tractors from the Nikaia and Karditsa blockades moved toward Volos. At the same time, the fishermen demonstrated with their boats in the Pagasitic Gulf.
