Stefanos Tsitsipas denies that he was driving at an excessive speed, following the fine imposed on him for violating the speed limit on Attiki Odos.
Specifically, the top Greek tennis player claimed through his lawyer that he was not the one driving his luxury vehicle at the time of the violation, but that a third person was behind the wheel, while he himself was the passenger.
According to ERT, his lawyer reportedly stated that “the matter has been settled,” without providing further details.
It is reminded that Stefanos Tsitsipas was “caught” by smart cameras ten days ago, driving at 210 km/h on Attiki Odos, exceeding the speed limit.
The video evidence was recorded in the system and the fine was issued through Gov.gr.
Under the new Highway Code, Tsitsipas had five days to appear before the police and submit the driver’s details.
He did not do so, and he must now pay a fine of 2,000 euros, while his driver’s license will be suspended for one year.
In case of a repeat offense, the fine increases to 4,000 euros and the license is suspended for two years. A second repeat offense raises the fine to 8,000 euros and the license is suspended for four years.
For the record, two smart red-light cameras have been operating on a pilot basis for months on Poseidonos Avenue, but they do not issue violations.
