Developments in the murder case of singer Giorgos Tsitoglou in the Kaminades area of Karditsa are rapid.
It is recalled that the 51-year-old man was found stabbed on Sunday morning (22/3) outside a man’s house, which he is believed to have visited earlier accompanied by a woman. Later that same afternoon, police authorities proceeded with two arrests, of a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old.
How the murder happened
According to information, the man initially brought in for questioning, who owned the house, told authorities that he was not responsible for the killing, as he was away from the house at the time — something confirmed by the investigation.
The man pointed to two other individuals as being responsible for the crime, claiming that they were also at the scene and left before the police arrived, as did the woman who had accompanied the singer to the house.
In fact, video footage in the possession of the authorities shows two individuals running away from the scene of the murder.
According to findings from the Hellenic Police (EL.AS.), the man who had been brought in for questioning had lent his house to the singer. The victim is said to have called two individuals on the phone to come to the location and sell him drugs. When he told them he did not have money to pay them, an argument broke out and the two perpetrators stabbed him.
Police located the 17-year-old, who has been arrested and has confessed, while shortly afterward an 18-year-old who was being sought was also arrested.
For the time being, the woman has not been located, as she left the scene after the murder.
Police, an EKAB ambulance, and a forensic examiner immediately arrived at the scene and have taken over the case.
It is recalled that the victim is singer Giorgos Tsitoglou, who was very well known in Thessaly.
