Police investigations are underway to solve the crime that came to light on Monday afternoon (30/3) in a detached house in Evosmos, Thessaloniki, where a 59-year-old woman was found dead.
Initial evidence points to death by asphyxiation, as the woman was found half-naked on her bed with a belt around her neck. Findings from the forensic examination are expected to shed light on the exact circumstances of her death.
According to police data, there were no signs of forced entry at the house. However, it was established that personal belongings of the victim were missing, such as documents and jewelry.
Officers from the Homicide Department of the Northern Greece Organized Crime Unit are also expecting answers from her mobile phone, which was found inside the house.
The 59-year-old lived between Greece and Germany and had chosen to purchase the house in Evosmos to be close to relatives. In recent months, she had reportedly begun renovating the property, for which she had already paid a deposit.
