What will the weather be like for Easter

Weather conditions are expected to remain relatively unsettled in the lead-up to Easter.

Although Holy Week began with higher-than-usual temperatures for the season, the weather will not stay completely stable through Easter. Fluctuations are expected, including a slight drop in temperature and brief spells of rain, before improving on Sunday, according to ERTnews.

As early as Holy Tuesday, temperatures have been moving at spring-like levels, reaching 22–23°C, while in several areas of central and northern Greece they climbed as high as 27–28°C. The feeling of spring is strong, with nature in full bloom.

Holy Wednesday: Mild weather, isolated showers

On Holy Wednesday, conditions will remain mild, with temperatures reaching up to 24°C. Winds will not exceed 6 Beaufort, facilitating travel for those already heading to Easter destinations. Rainfall will be limited and localized, mainly in the northern Aegean and mountainous areas of central and northern Greece, primarily during midday hours.

Holy Thursday and Friday: Temperature drop and brief instability

A change in the weather pattern is expected from Holy Thursday, with temperatures dropping by around 4 to 6 degrees. Northerly winds will remain moderate, up to 6 Beaufort, while showers will be brief and local, mainly affecting the Aegean and northern Greece. Light snowfall is also possible in mountainous areas of the north.

Similar conditions are expected on Good Friday, without major disruptions for holiday travelers, especially those traveling by road.

Holy Saturday: Increased but temporary rainfall

On Holy Saturday, forecast data indicate increased instability, with more widespread rainfall across much of the country. However, the phenomena are expected to be short-lived, while light snowfall may occur in the mountainous regions of central and northern Greece. Despite a further slight drop in temperature, conditions are expected to improve in many areas by the time of the Resurrection service, as the weather phenomena subside.

Easter Sunday: Improvement and ideal conditions

The latest forecast data point to improved weather on Easter Sunday, with favorable conditions for celebrations. Despite the preceding fluctuations, the day is expected to unfold with mild weather, although meteorologists continue to monitor developments for any potential changes.
