Unsettled weather with showers and occasional thunderstorms will persist this weekend, with temperatures expected to rise towards summer starting Monday.

The weather in Greece is expected to remain unstable through Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24, with local rain and sporadic thunderstorms across much of the country. The almost autumn-like conditions are forecasted to continue until Monday, May 25, after which temperatures will gradually rise, approaching typical summer levels.

Saturday, May 23 – General Conditions

Eastern Greece: Mostly cloudy skies with showers or brief rain, and isolated thunderstorms.
Western Greece: Initially few clouds, increasing by midday, with local showers or brief thunderstorms over inland areas.
Winds: West — variable, 3–4 Beaufort; East — northerly, 3–5 Beaufort; Aegean — northerly, 6 Beaufort from the evening.
Temperature: Slight drop in east and south; 22–23°C in eastern and southern islands, 24–26°C in other regions, locally 27°C in western areas.

Macedonia & Thrace:

Cloudy with temporary rain and isolated thunderstorms in central Macedonia until morning; local showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, mainly in mountainous areas. Winds northerly 3–4 Beaufort (up to 5 in the east). Temperature: 14–25°C, locally 26°C; western Macedonia: 10–23°C.

Ionian Islands, Epirus, Western Central Greece, Western Peloponnese:

Few clouds, increasing midday with local showers or isolated thunderstorms in inland areas. Winds variable 3–4 Beaufort. Temperature: 11–26°C, locally 27°C.

Thessaly, Eastern Central Greece, Evia, Eastern Peloponnese:

Partly cloudy with local showers, mainly coastal until early afternoon, with isolated thunderstorms. Winds northerly 3–5 Beaufort. Temperature: 12–25°C.

Cyclades & Crete:

Cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms until noon in the Cyclades and late afternoon in Crete. Winds WNW 3–5 Beaufort, turning northerly 4–5 Beaufort midday, locally 6 Beaufort at night. Temperature: 16–23°C.

Eastern Aegean Islands & Dodecanese:

Few clouds, locally increasing with showers or isolated thunderstorms until the afternoon, mainly in the south. Winds northerly 3–5 Beaufort, locally 6 in the north. Temperature: 16–23°C.

Attica Forecast

Cloudy skies will persist in Attica through Saturday afternoon, with local showers and the possibility of isolated thunderstorms.

Thessaloniki Forecast

Sunny weather is expected across most of Greece, with only temporary cloud development over mountainous inland areas during the afternoon, where local showers may occur.

  • Temperature: Rising, especially in western and northern Greece

Wednesday, May 27

Generally fair weather will continue, although brief cloud formation is expected over mountainous mainland regions and Crete during the afternoon, bringing occasional local showers.

Winds will gradually shift from northerly to west-southwesterly directions, while temperatures are forecast to rise slightly further, reinforcing the transition toward more summer-like conditions.
