Zakynthos: 22-year-οld rescued from Navagio beach after becoming trapped on rocks

A 22-year-old man became trapped at a steep location on Navagio Beach in Zakynthos. A major Fire Service operation was launched to rescue him.

The Fire Service successfully completed the rescue operation of a 22-year-old American man who became trapped at a steep and inaccessible spot in the “Navagio” area of the Elation Municipal Unit in Zakynthos.
Authorities were alerted to the incident by a nearby canteen after it became apparent that the young man had become stranded on the rocks.
Twenty firefighters with seven vehicles were immediately mobilized for the search and rescue operation, including personnel from the Zakynthos Fire Service, the Elation Fire Department, and members of the 17th EMODE special disaster response unit.
Firefighters managed to reach the difficult terrain using specialized mountaineering equipment.
After reaching the 22-year-old, they secured him and safely brought him back up to the road.
The young man was then handed over to an EKAB ambulance crew, where specialized medical personnel provided first aid. As he did not suffer serious injuries, the 22-year-old left a short while later for his accommodation.
