Patissia: Armed attack at mobile phone store by known criminals with violent histories

All of them have a history of serious offenses, while the victim had prior issues with receiving stolen goods.

Yesterday afternoon (May 27), four perpetrators carried out an armed attack at a mobile phone store located at 274 Patission Street in Patissia, owned by a 47-year-old man, causing panic while numerous pedestrians and vehicles were present.

Two of the assailants exited the car they were in and approached the store, where they assaulted the victim and then shot him twice—once in each leg—before fleeing the scene.

The firearm, equipped with a silencer, was later found inside a supermarket bag on Nirvana Street.

The two attackers then got back into the car, where two more accomplices were waiting, and fled towards Kifisos Avenue.

Police officers located them and initiated a chase along Kifisos Avenue, during which the perpetrators collided with other vehicles, causing damage. Eventually, the driver lost control and crashed into the safety barriers.

The police managed to stop and arrest three of them, while the fourth suspect escaped on foot and is still being sought.

The arrested suspects include a 30-year-old Greek man previously involved in a 2022 attempted murder at a cafeteria in Nea Erythraia, where he stabbed a well-known businessman. He was also a defendant in the criminal organization case related to the fan incident in which MAT police officer Giorgos Lyngéridis was killed, though he was charged with drug trafficking, not murder.

Another suspect is a 27-year-old ethnic Albanian who had been arrested in the past in Chaidari for transporting two Kalashnikov rifles for the notorious Albanian criminal Lekotsai, and for thefts, along with a 31-year-old Albanian also previously charged with theft.

The victim is a 47-year-old Pakistani man who had past charges related to receiving stolen goods.

On the scene, DIAS police officers applied a tourniquet with a hemostatic bandage to the victim to stop the bleeding. He was then transported by EKAV ambulance to “Red Cross” Hospital, where he underwent surgery and is now in stable condition.

The arrested suspects remained silent during questioning, while the victim reported that an unknown number of mobile phones and money were taken, meaning the perpetrators could also face robbery charges.

Authorities continue investigating to determine the true motives behind the attack, which they suspect may be linked to an illegal transaction.
