Pentecost: Athenians head to the islands as travel peaks

With full capacity reaching nearly 100% at ports, intercity buses (KTEL), and airports, the exodus of travelers for the Pentecost long weekend is concluding today.

More than 28,800 passengers are expected to depart today from the ports of Attica for the Pentecost long weekend, according to estimated passenger traffic from ferry companies.
These figures concern passengers who have already purchased tickets, while the final number is expected to be higher, as last-minute travelers are also anticipated.
The Hellenic Coast Guard has taken all necessary measures to facilitate travelers.
From the port of Piraeus, 14 sailings will operate today to the Aegean islands, with estimated passenger traffic reaching 10,890 passengers.
Meanwhile, for the islands of the Saronic Gulf, 42 sailings will be conducted, of which 23 will be by passenger hydrofoils and 19 by passenger-car ferries, transporting a total of 7,079 passengers.
Traffic is also particularly heavy from the port of Rafina, where 10 sailings will carry 7,754 passengers to the Cyclades and other island destinations. In addition, four daily sailings operate on the Rafina–Marmari route.
