The 41-year-old man, who confessed to killing his 39-year-old wife and mother of their two children, received a postponement to testify on Saturday morning (6/6).
The request was submitted by his lawyer, as reported by ERT, who asked for more time to review the case file, since the results of the forensic examination reached the defense late on Thursday afternoon, and, according to him, there was insufficient time for full preparation and briefing for the testimony.
According to reports, the 41-year-old continues to claim that he was first attacked by his wife, sticking to the statement he has maintained since his arrest.
Thus, the accused is expected to be brought again before the Investigator on Saturday morning to provide explanations regarding the case that has shocked the local community.
It is recalled that the husband killer faces charges of intentional homicide in a calm state of mind, domestic violence, and violations of weapons law.
The 41-Year-Old Insists on Self-Defense
The 41-year-old perpetrator confessed to the act to the authorities, although he made some contradictory statements.
Initially at least, he claimed to the police that he suddenly woke up and saw his wife over him holding the knife, followed by a struggle during which he disarmed her and stabbed her repeatedly in their bedroom.
This claim does not appear to match the authorities’ evidence so far, while he reportedly had no defensive wounds on his body.
On the contrary, the victim was brutally stabbed multiple times in the head, face, and the rest of her body. The scene showed clear signs of a prior struggle.
