The investigation into the double homicide in Aigio, involving a 54-year-old woman and her 26-year-old son, has taken a new turn following the first results from forensic laboratory examinations.

Authorities are now closely examining the knife found beneath the woman’s body, the Flobert-type firearm, bloodstains discovered throughout the house, and bloodied fingerprints found on various objects at the scene.

The knife discovered under the 54-year-old’s body appears to have been wiped clean. According to forensic findings, it contained no fingerprints—not even those of the victim herself. Investigators consider this detail crucial, as it strengthens the theory that the knife was moved and deliberately placed at the scene.

The knife is believed to have been taken from the kitchen and moved into the bedroom, where the woman’s body was found. The complete absence of fingerprints has raised concerns among investigators, since an object that had been used or moved would normally be expected to carry at least some trace of the last person who handled it.

Sources familiar with the investigation told Patrapress.gr that the fact the knife yielded absolutely no forensic evidence “says a lot” about how the murder weapon was handled by the perpetrator.

Authorities believe that both the knife and the Flobert-type firearm—which fatally wounded the 26-year-old in the head—were left at the scene in an attempt to create the impression that the mother and son had killed each other.

Bloodied Fingerprints on the Gun and Laptop

Another significant finding involves the bloodied fingerprints of the 54-year-old woman, which were found both on the Flobert firearm and on a laptop.

This suggests that the woman touched these objects after she had already been injured. Investigators are now trying to reconstruct the sequence of events inside the house to determine exactly what happened before she died.

The theory that the woman shot her son is further undermined by a key forensic finding: no traces of gunshot residue were detected on her hands, indicating she had likely not fired a weapon.

The 65-Year-Old Suspect’s Claim and the New Findings

The 65-year-old Italian man, the woman’s partner, who has been remanded in custody in connection with the case, denies any involvement in the double murder. According to earlier reports, he claimed that he had been asleep and heard nothing. An initial theory suggested that the mother shot her son and then stabbed herself.

However, the latest forensic findings raise serious doubts about that version of events. The wiped-clean knife, the absence of gunshot residue on the woman’s hands, and the bloodied fingerprints found on various items are bringing to the forefront the possibility that a hurried and amateurish staging of the crime scene took place after the killings.

The New Testimony Authorities Are Awaiting

Investigators also consider a new statement from a friend of the 65-year-old to be critical to the case. The friend is reportedly the first person who was informed about the deaths of the 54-year-old woman and her 26-year-old son.

Authorities are attempting to piece together a case that has been marked by numerous inconsistencies from the outset. The forensic evidence now suggests that the crime scene was likely not left untouched after the murders. On the contrary, the fingerprint-free knife, blood traces, and the positioning of various objects have led investigators to believe that someone attempted to manipulate the scene and steer the narrative of the case.

The double murder investigation in Aigio has therefore entered a new phase, with forensic results, witness testimonies, and the traces left behind by the perpetrator inside the house now taking center stage.
