Kallithea: 15-year-old victim of fatal clash
INTIME

New information regarding the fatal clash in Kallithea involving a 15-year-old victim.

An investigation and preliminary inquiry by the Organized Crime Directorate into the homicide of a 15-year-old boy, which occurred late last night (24/6) on Megalou Alexandrou Street in Kallithea, is ongoing.

According to the police, the victim was identified through fingerprint analysis and, as he had a prior criminal record, results emerged quickly. He had recently been arrested for possession of knives and, a year earlier, had also been involved in a weapons-related case when he was found carrying a metal knuckle duster.

He reportedly lived in the northern suburbs and had been reported missing by his family.

The death of the 15-year-old was the result of a clash between minors and young individuals that began in Agia Eleousa. All of them were supporters of Olympiacos, except for one who supported AEK.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night, when a group of three young people was gathered in one part of a square, while another group of six was in a different location. The latter group reportedly intimidated the group of three.

The three then called five friends for support, among whom was the victim, who arrived by car, and all together they got involved in a confrontation, during which a young individual—still under 18 years old—pulled out a knife and stabbed the 15-year-old in the chest.

The victim was transported by EKAB ambulance to Hippokration Hospital, where he later died.

A knife was also found at the scene and sent to forensic laboratories; however, it is not believed to be the murder weapon, as all those involved indicated to the police that it had been thrown into a bin, and officers are still searching for it.

It is possibly considered a show of force between the two groups.

The four young individuals who were with the victim in the car fled the scene and are being sought by authorities.

Since they are essentially supporters of the same team, a fan-related motive is being examined, but it does not appear to be confirmed; other possibilities are also being investigated, including a display of dominance between the groups, while the young suspects have not provided clear explanations to authorities regarding the exact cause of the clash.

The perpetrator was identified by the other involved individuals and has admitted to the act.

Demoglidou: No evidence points to a fan-related motive

When asked about the case, the police spokesperson, Konstantina Demoglidou, stated that the possibility of a fan-related motive is being examined; however, “it is a scenario that does not appear to be supported, as it seems that the majority of those involved belong to the same team. In fact, both the victim and the perpetrator appear to support the same team, so it is not yet clear what exactly happened.”

At the same time, the way in which these individuals came into contact, as described by the participants themselves, “does not lead us in the direction of a fan-related motive. This will become clear in the coming hours, once the examination of all those involved has been completed,” she added.
