Greece is set to experience an extended spell of intense summer heat over the next two weeks, with temperatures climbing steadily and expected to peak across the country’s major urban centers.
According to meteorologist Theodoros Kolydas, the heatwave will reach its peak in what he describes as a dramatic roller coaster between the end of June and the first days of July.
In a post on social media, the director of the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS) said the next fortnight will be marked by fully tropical conditions, making Athens, Thessaloniki, and Larissa the country’s hottest locations, where the combination of concrete and soaring temperatures will create stifling conditions.
Forecast data indicate that after the intense heat peaks during the first days of July, temperatures will gradually and slowly ease. However, Mr. Kolydas stressed that no dramatic change in weather conditions is expected.
