Two suspects arrested in Greece over the deadly 2010 Marfin bank arson attack are appearing before an investigating judge, while developments continue in the case of a 46-year-old woman arrested in the United Kingdom.

The two 42-year-old suspects arrived at the Evelpidon Courts in Athens shortly before 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday (July 14) to give their statements before the investigating judge in connection with the deadly Marfin bank arson attack.

The two men, who were brought before the Athens courts last Friday, had been arrested under warrants charging them with multiple counts of intentional homicide. They had been granted additional time to prepare their defense before appearing for questioning.

Meanwhile, the 46-year-old woman arrested in the United Kingdom is expected to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, where proceedings will begin to examine Greece’s request for her extradition, according to a statement by the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA).

An NCA spokesperson said the arrest was carried out by officers from the National Extradition Unit. According to the agency, the woman was wanted by the Greek authorities over her alleged involvement in the 2010 firebomb attack on a bank branch in Athens.

She was arrested by British authorities at her workplace on Monday morning (July 13).

It is noted that, several days before her arrest, the 46-year-old had voluntarily contacted the Greek authorities, maintaining that she is innocent and expressing her wish to return immediately to Greece to appear before the courts.
