26-year-old charged with premeditated murder over the killing of Scottish woman

The 26-year-old has been charged with premeditated murder in a calm state of mind, robbery and violating weapons legislation over the killing of the 38-year-old Scottish woman, whose body was found inside a suitcase in Kypseli.

The 26-year-old completed his statement before investigators and is expected to appear before the prosecutor, who, together with the investigating magistrate, will decide on his further criminal treatment.

The suspect reportedly continues to insist that he had no involvement in the murder of Elizabeth Jane Ross. According to ERTNews, he claimed that he found her dead in the bathroom of an apartment in Exarchia, Athens, which he co-owned with his wife, and that he later decided to place her body inside a suitcase and move it to an abandoned building on Evelpidon Street in Kypseli in order to avoid getting involved, as he allegedly stated.

At the same time, the 26-year-old has admitted that he took the 38-year-old woman’s mobile phone and used it to send messages to her relatives, attempting to create the impression that she was still alive. He also admitted taking her bank cards in order to obtain money.

According to his claims, the following day he met again with an elderly man, who allegedly demanded money to transport the suitcase containing the body and threatened to report him to the authorities. The suspect claims that he used the victim’s bank cards to withdraw money and pay him in exchange for his silence.

The defendant’s claims are being assessed by the investigating authorities, which continue to examine all available evidence in the case.
