The four defendants standing trial before the Mixed Jury Court of Giannitsa for the amusement park accident in Halkidiki in August 2024, which resulted in the death of a 19-year-old, were unanimously found guilty.
Accepting the prosecutor’s recommendation, the judges—both professional and lay—found the four defendants guilty as follows:
The amusement park owner for homicide with eventual intent, completed in relation to the 19-year-old and attempted in relation to his brother, who was on the same ride
The owner’s wife (as co-manager of the business) for simple complicity in homicide with eventual intent, both completed and attempted
The operator of the fatal ride, known as “Crazy Dance”, for negligent exposure causing death, simple exposure, and minor bodily harm
The mechanical engineer who had provided inspection certificates for the operation of the ride for simple complicity in homicide with eventual intent, both completed and attempted
The proceedings continue with discussions on whether mitigating circumstances will be granted, followed by the announcement of sentences.
