Residents of the Evangelistria area in Amaliada experienced moments of panic shortly after 5:00 a.m. on Saturday (4/7), when petrol bombs exploded at the entrance of an apartment building on 25th March Street.
Specifically, a total of three petrol bombs and a jerrycan of gasoline formed the explosive device placed by unknown individuals at the entrance of the building.
Residents who spoke to ilialive.gr reported that they had never experienced anything like this before and rushed out into the street to see what had happened, initially believing that a truck had crashed into a building, as traffic accidents are common on the nearby Evangelistria Street.
However, they saw flames burning at the entrance of the apartment building, while windows had been shattered by the explosion both in the building itself and in nearby structures. It was confirmed that, beyond material damage to buildings, no injuries occurred.
What the authorities are investigating
The first step taken by the police authorities, who were alerted and arrived at the scene, was to check whether there are security cameras that could provide evidence about the perpetrators of the attack.
Investigations are ongoing, with officers taking statements and witness testimonies regarding the incident.
