Anavyssos: They got drunk, argued, and a 40-year-old killed their friend with a branch

A homicide case involving a 42-year-old man that took place in the early hours of Monday (22/6) in Anavyssos has been solved.

The Sub-Directorate for Crime Investigation and Resolution of Southeastern Attica has solved the case.

Specifically, a total of 17 individuals who are allegedly involved in the violent clash of June 24, 2026, were identified. Seven of them were arrested, including the alleged perpetrator of the homicide.

At the same time, a case file was formed against them for obstruction and hindering justice by co-perpetration, while the file also includes the 40-year-old compatriot who has been identified and is being sought, accused of intentional homicide and dangerous bodily harm.

According to the preliminary investigation by the Security Police, the perpetrators met with the victim at the home of the 51-year-old suspect in the afternoon of Sunday, June 21, in Anavyssos.

During the meeting, after heavy alcohol consumption, the four men argued intensely and came to blows, while the 40-year-old grabbed a tree branch about one meter long and 10 centimeters in diameter and struck the 42-year-old on the head.

Subsequently, the accused, except for the 51-year-old, left the residence without informing the police authorities and without ensuring the immediate provision of necessary medical assistance to the victim, resulting in his death.

The arrested individuals were brought before the competent Public Prosecutor.
