Changes to Metro Line 3 from Sunday – Which stations will be affected

From tomorrow, Sunday (26 July), Syntagma, Evangelismos and Megaro Mousikis stations will close earlier due to rail replacement works on Metro Line 3.

Rail replacement works on Athens Metro Line 3 are continuing, with operations moving from tomorrow, Sunday (26 July), to the “Syntagma – Megaro Mousikis” section, where temporary night-time service arrangements will be introduced.

More specifically, according to an announcement by STASY, from tomorrow, Sunday, the stations “Syntagma” (Line 3), “Evangelismos” and “Megaro Mousikis” will close at 9:40 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday, two and a half hours earlier than the scheduled end of services. Syntagma station will remain open for Metro Line 2.

During the works, Line 3 trains will operate between the stations “Dimotiko Theatro – Monastiraki” and “Ampelokipoi – Doukissis Plakentias – Airport”.

The final trains before the stations close will depart:

from DIMOTIKO THEATRO towards DOUKISSIS PLAKENTIAS at 9:06 p.m.,

from MONASTIRAKI towards DOUKISSIS PLAKENTIAS at 9:29 p.m.,

from SYNTAGMA towards DOUKISSIS PLAKENTIAS at 9:31 p.m.,

from EVANGELISMOS towards DOUKISSIS PLAKENTIAS at 9:33 p.m.,

from MEGARO MOUSIKIS towards DOUKISSIS PLAKENTIAS at 9:34 p.m.,

from DOUKISSIS PLAKENTIAS towards DIMOTIKO THEATRO at 9:30 p.m.,

from AMPELOKIPOI towards DIMOTIKO THEATRO at 9:44 p.m.,

from MEGARO MOUSIKIS towards DIMOTIKO THEATRO at 9:46 p.m.,

from EVANGELISMOS towards DIMOTIKO THEATRO at 9:47 p.m.,

from SYNTAGMA towards DIMOTIKO THEATRO at 9:49 p.m.

SERVICES TO/FROM THE AIRPORT

– Final trains:

from Syntagma towards the Airport at 9:31 p.m.,

from Dimotiko Theatro towards the Airport at 9:06 p.m., and

from the Airport towards Dimotiko Theatro at 9:10 p.m.

After the technical works begin at 9:40 p.m., trains heading towards the Airport will depart from Ampelokipoi station. Passengers should note that trains will leave from Platform 2, which normally serves trains towards Dimotiko Theatro. Trains departing from the Airport will terminate at Ampelokipoi station.

In detail:

– Departures from Ampelokipoi towards the Airport will take place at 10:07 p.m., 10:47 p.m. and 11:23 p.m., while departures from the Airport towards Ampelokipoi will take place at 9:46 p.m., 10:22 p.m., 10:58 p.m. and 11:34 p.m.

To serve passengers, OASA will operate the temporary X23 bus route, “Monastiraki Metro Station – Ampelokipoi Metro Station”, from Sunday to Thursday, between 9:40 p.m. and the end of Metro services.

The route will make the following stops:

– In the direction Monastiraki Metro Station – Ampelokipoi Metro Station:

“MONASTIRAKI STATION” (temporary stop on Ermou Street), “OMONOIA STATION” (existing stop on Stadiou Street named OMONOIA), “SYNTAGMA STATION” (existing stop on Vasilissis Amalias Avenue named SYNTAGMA), “EVANGELISMOS STATION” (existing stop on Vasilissis Sofias Avenue named EVANGELISMOS STATION), “MEGARO MOUSIKIS STATION” (existing stop on Vasilissis Sofias Avenue named ILISIA), “AMPELOKIPOI STATION” (temporary stop at 46 Dimitriou Soutsou Street).

– In the direction Ampelokipoi Metro Station – Monastiraki Metro Station:

“AMPELOKIPOI STATION” (temporary stop at 46 Dimitriou Soutsou Street), “MEGARO MOUSIKIS STATION” (existing stop on Vasilissis Sofias Avenue named ILISIA), “EVANGELISMOS STATION” (existing stop on Vasilissis Sofias Avenue named EVANGELISMOS HOSPITAL), “SYNTAGMA STATION” (existing stop on Vasilissis Sofias Avenue named SYNTAGMA), “OMONOIA STATION” (existing stop on Panepistimiou Street named OMONOIA), “MONASTIRAKI STATION” (temporary stop on Ermou Street).

The X23 bus route will stop at all the closed stations and will connect Monastiraki and Ampelokipoi stations.

For X23 bus departures at 11:58 p.m. and 12:10 a.m. from Monastiraki station, a train will depart from Ampelokipoi station at approximately 12:45 a.m., terminating at Doukissis Plakentias station.

For X23 bus departures at 11:46 p.m. and 11:58 p.m. from Ampelokipoi station, a train will depart from Monastiraki station at approximately 12:45 a.m., terminating at Dimotiko Theatro station.

“We understand the disruption caused to passengers by these service arrangements. However, they are considered necessary for the completion of these important works, which will help improve daily journeys,” STASY said in its announcement.
