The investigation into the femicide in Kalamata, where a 39-year-old woman was killed and her 41-year-old husband has confessed to the crime, continues to reveal new details.
According to information from ERT, investigators are focusing on an incident that took place in November 2025, when police officers were called to the woman’s home after acquaintances became concerned because she had failed to attend a scheduled activity and was not answering phone calls.
Following reports that surfaced in the media, the Hellenic Police issued a statement clarifying that no complaint of domestic violence, assault, or abuse had been made during that incident. According to police records, the 39-year-old woman was found to be in good health, and nothing emerged during their interaction with her that would have justified further police intervention.
The police also noted that there had been no recorded reports of domestic violence involving the couple.
ERT further reported that about a year ago, the 39-year-old had sought assistance from the Kalamata Women’s Counseling Center, which operates within the network of services run by the General Secretariat for Equality and Human Rights.
She reportedly sought support mainly regarding employment and career-related issues.
According to the same report, she had been offered the option of using the Panic Button protection system, but allegedly declined the measure, and the process was not pursued further.
