Sunny conditions will continue on Thursday, with high temperatures and strong northerly winds across the Aegean, according to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service.

Greece will experience mostly clear skies on Thursday, July 30, with only temporary cloud developing over mountainous areas in the north during the afternoon, while strong northerly winds are expected to reach 8 Beaufort in parts of the Aegean.

According to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS), northerly to northeasterly winds will blow at 4 to 6 Beaufort in western Greece, 5 to 7 Beaufort in the east and locally 8 Beaufort across the Aegean Sea.

Temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged.

Maximum temperatures will reach:

  • 35–37°C across western mainland Greece.
  • 34–35°C across the rest of the mainland, the Ionian Islands, the southeastern Aegean and southern Crete.
  • 29–32°C across the remaining island regions.

Macedonia and Thrace

The weather will remain mostly sunny, with temporary afternoon cloud over the mountains of Macedonia.

Easterly to northeasterly winds will blow at 3 to 5 Beaufort, reaching locally 6 Beaufort in eastern areas.

Temperatures will range from 20°C to 33–34°C, while western Macedonia will remain 2 to 3 degrees cooler.

Ionian Islands, Epirus and western Greece

Conditions will be generally clear, with temporary afternoon cloud over northern mountainous areas.

Northerly winds will blow at 4 to 5 Beaufort, strengthening locally to 6 Beaufort in southern areas.

Temperatures will range from 22°C to 35°C, reaching 36–37°C in parts of the mainland. Inland Epirus will be 3 to 4 degrees cooler.

Thessaly, eastern Central Greece and the eastern Peloponnese

The weather will remain mostly sunny, with temporary afternoon cloud over northern mountainous areas.

North to northeasterly winds will blow at 5 to 7 Beaufort, reaching 8 Beaufort in eastern districts.

Temperatures will range from 22°C to 34–35°C.

Cyclades and Crete

The weather will remain clear.

Northerly winds will reach 7 to 8 Beaufort.

Temperatures will range from 23°C to 29°C, rising locally to 33–34°C in southern Crete.

Eastern Aegean islands and Dodecanese

Sunny conditions are expected throughout the day.

Northerly winds will blow at 5 to 7 Beaufort, reaching 8 Beaufort in the northern islands.

Temperatures will range from 22°C to 32°C, rising to 35°C and locally 36°C in the southern Dodecanese.

Attica

Attica will remain sunny.

North to northeasterly winds will blow at 5 to 7 Beaufort, reaching 8 Beaufort in eastern parts of the region.

Temperatures will range from 23°C to 34°C, with eastern areas remaining 2 to 3 degrees cooler.

Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki will be mostly sunny, with temporary afternoon cloud over the surrounding mountains.

Southeasterly winds will blow at 3 to 4 Beaufort.

Temperatures will range from 22°C to 32–33°C.

Outlook for Friday

Friday will remain mostly sunny, with temporary cloud over northern mountainous areas and Crete.

North to northeasterly winds will blow at 5 to 7 Beaufort, reaching locally 8 Beaufort in the Aegean.

Temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged, with highs of 35–37°C in western mainland Greece, 33–34°C across the rest of the mainland, the Ionian Islands, the southeastern Aegean and southern Crete, and 29–31°C across the remaining islands.

Weekend outlook

Saturday and Sunday are expected to remain mostly sunny, with temporary cloud over eastern mainland Greece and Crete.

North to northeasterly winds will blow at 4 to 6 Beaufort, strengthening to 6 to 7 Beaufort in the Aegean and locally reaching 8 Beaufort on Saturday morning.

No significant change in temperatures is forecast through the weekend.
