Kypseli: Three suspects in “house of horror” case remanded in custody

After a lengthy procedure, with the agreement of the prosecutor and investigating magistrate, all three are expected to be transferred to prison.

According to reports, all three denied the drug trafficking charges brought against them.

However, new arrest warrants were also issued against them in relation to a new criminal prosecution, which includes, among other charges, the intentional homicide of the infant and sexual acts involving the 15-year-old pregnant girl.

This formally marks their arrest and their being called to provide new statements regarding the additional offences.

What they claimed in their statements

Before the investigating magistrate, the 43-year-old Greek man, the 38-year-old German woman, and the 26-year-old Afghan man reportedly claimed that they had never trafficked narcotic substances.

The 43-year-old allegedly asked the magistrate to order relevant examinations to prove that he is a drug addict, as he claimed during his statement.

The German woman reportedly made a similar claim, stating:

“I deny the charges. I did not commit the offences I am accused of. I am innocent. The drugs were for my own use. I ask for the leniency of the Greek justice system. I always wanted to have my child with me; I could not accept his death.”

The 26-year-old also denied the charge of failing to report the discovery of a dead person, claiming that he had no knowledge of the infant and was unaware of any possible drug trafficking.

“I looked after the children three times a week. I know nothing about the dead child. I had not seen any money in the house,” he reportedly claimed.

The “open” case file

It should be noted that another investigation is ongoing involving the 43-year-old Greek man and concerns the offence of pimping.

According to reports, the case, which involves several defendants, concerns the period between 2020 and 2021. Since 2025, the case file has been forwarded to the Athens Prosecutor’s Office, which is handling the investigation.

Regarding another pimping case dating back to 2020, involving a 40-year-old German woman as the alleged victim, the 43-year-old had been charged and initially remanded in custody, but was later cleared following a ruling by the competent judicial council.

The child was kept in the freezer for two entire years

It is recalled that the 43-year-old father admitted to police officers from the Attica Security Directorate that he had kept the body of his eight-month-old child hidden in the home freezer for two full years.

The 43-year-old’s shocking admission opened a new cycle of investigations by Athens Security. While the forensic examination confirmed that the infant was approximately eight months old when he died, police investigators are now focusing on determining the exact time and place of the child’s birth – details for which no official documents exist.

At the same time, authorities are attempting to piece together the circumstances of the case by examining the exact conditions surrounding the infant’s death, the location where the alleged crime took place, and whether additional people were involved in concealing it.

During his statement, the 43-year-old reportedly claimed that he did not bury the child’s body because he feared the case would be uncovered and that social services would take away his remaining children.

“I did not have the strength to bury him because I was afraid the case would be revealed and social services would take my other children as well,” he allegedly told police.

He also reportedly claimed that the infant had been born in a maternity hospital in Athens, while alleging that another child had been handed to them at birth instead of their own.

According to his testimony, when the baby died of natural causes, he decided to place the body in the home freezer, where it remained for an extended period.
