Which stations on Metro Line 2 will close earlier due to rail replacement works and installation of a 5G network.

Rail replacement works and installation of a 5G network continue on the Athens Metro, with works being carried out from today, Tuesday May 5, on the “Attiki – Metaxourgeio” section, where temporary traffic arrangements will apply during nighttime hours.

Specifically, according to an announcement by STASY, from Tuesday 05/05 until Thursday 21/05 the stations “Attiki”, “Larissis Station” and “Metaxourgeio” will close at 21:40 on Sundays through Thursdays, two and a half hours earlier than the scheduled end of service.

The “Attiki” station will remain open for Line 1 (ISAP) Kifisia – Piraeus.

Train service on Line 2 during works will operate between “Anthoupoli – Sepolia” and “Omonia – Elliniko”.

In detail, the last trains before station closures will depart:

  • from SEPOLIA to ELLINIKO at 21:30,
  • from ATTIKI to ELLINIKO at 21:32,
  • from LARISSIS STATION to ELLINIKO at 21:33,
  • from METAXOURGEIO to ELLINIKO at 21:34,
  • from SYNTAGMA to ANTHOUPOLI at 21:31,
  • from OMONOIA to ANTHOUPOLI at 21:34,
  • from METAXOURGEIO to ANTHOUPOLI at 21:36,
  • from LARISSIS STATION to ANTHOUPOLI at 21:37, and
  • from ATTIKI to ANTHOUPOLI at 21:39.

To serve passengers, OASA is introducing (Sundays to Thursdays, from 21:40 until the end of Metro service) a temporary bus line X19 “Omonia Metro Station – Ag. Antonios Metro Station”. The line will stop at the following stops:

– Direction Omonia Metro Station – Ag. Antonios Metro Station:

“Omonia Station” (temporary terminus between 3rd September and Agiou Konstantinou streets), “Metaxourgeio Station” (existing stop), “Larissis Station” (existing stop), “Kadmou” (existing stop), “Ag. Antonios Station” (existing stop).

– Direction Ag. Antonios Metro Station – Omonia Metro Station:

“Ag. Antonios Station” (temporary stop on Ethnarchou Makariou Street), “Kadmou” (existing stop), “Larissis Station towards Syntagma” (temporary stop on Diligianni Street), “Peroke” (existing stop), “Omonia Station” (temporary terminus between 3rd September and Agiou Konstantinou streets).

“We understand the disruption caused to passengers by these traffic arrangements; however, they are necessary for the execution of these important works that will contribute to improving daily transportation,” STASY states.
