Murder in Kallithea: “There were prior disputes” between the two groups – 17 individuals identified

The Hellenic Police issued a statement regarding the murder of the 15-year-old in Kallithea, stating that the Sub-Directorate for Combating Organized Sports Violence has solved the case.

Specifically, a total of 17 people allegedly involved in the bloody clash of June 24, 2026, have been identified. Of these, seven have been arrested, including the alleged perpetrator of the homicide.

In addition, a case file has been formed against another 18 individuals, who are the parents of minor suspects and face charges of neglect of supervision of a minor.

According to the findings of the investigation, everything began on the night of June 24, when three groups of young people initially engaged in a verbal confrontation in the area of Kallithea. The tension quickly escalated into a general fight, during which knives, stones, collapsible metal rods, and other objects were used.

During the incidents, members of one of the groups chased the 15-year-old, resulting in a further clash, during which the minor was seriously injured. Despite doctors’ efforts, he succumbed a few hours later in the hospital.

An extensive police investigation began immediately after the incident. Teams from the Special Investigations Unit, in cooperation with the Forensic Science Division, conducted an on-site inspection, collected biological material, and utilized all available preliminary investigative evidence.

From the analysis of the findings, the alleged perpetrator of the homicide was identified and arrested the following morning. The investigation continued, leading to the identification of another 16 individuals involved, six of whom were arrested.

According to the preliminary investigation, the motive for the attack is linked both to prior incidents between the involved parties and to sports-related rivalries.

Murder in Kallithea: What was found in the homes of those involved

During searches carried out at the residences of the suspects and at the scene of the clash, police officers discovered and confiscated a large number of items.

Among them were knives, screwdrivers, clubs, a metal knuckle duster, protective helmet, spray canisters, ammunition of various calibers, mobile phones, clothing allegedly worn by the participants during the night of the clash, as well as scarves, banners, stickers, and other material with sports-fan content.

The seven arrested individuals, except for one who remains hospitalized under guard, were brought before the competent prosecutor authority, while the investigation continues for the full clarification of the case and the attribution of all responsibilities.

What the forensic examination showed for the 15-year-old

A fatal stab wound near the heart was identified by the coroner during the examination of the body of the 15-year-old who lost his life in the violent clash between minors in Kallithea.

According to available information so far, the 15-year-old was stabbed near and below the heart, resulting in his death. The same sources report that the coroner found no signs of struggle.

So far, seven individuals have been arrested in the case and another ten are being sought. The prosecutor has filed criminal charges for serious offenses against the arrested individuals, who are charged with:

1. Intentional homicide
2. Participation in a violent clash involving the use of weapons resulting in death and serious bodily harm
3. Dangerous bodily harm committed jointly and repeatedly
4. Illegal possession and use of weapons
