New evidence has emerged in the case of the two people found dead outside an apartment building in Nea Smyrni. The man had allegedly lain in wait for the 45-year-old woman, fatally shot her and then took his own life.

Evidence gathered by officers from the Homicide Department now points to femicide in the case of the two people found dead early on Sunday morning (23/8) outside the entrance of an apartment building in Nea Smyrni.
According to the findings of the investigation so far, a man of Albanian origin is believed to have lain in wait for a 45-year-old woman, also of Albanian origin, outside the apartment building.
When the woman arrived, the man allegedly shot and fatally wounded her. Immediately afterwards, according to the same evidence, he turned the gun on himself and took his own life.

Footage from the apartment building’s security cameras appears to have played a decisive role in the investigation.
The footage reportedly shows the man waiting for the 45-year-old woman, shooting her when she reaches the entrance and then taking his own life. Police have also recovered the weapon believed to have been used.
The 45-year-old woman’s daughter reportedly lived in the building
According to initial information, the 45-year-old woman did not live in the apartment building. Her daughter is reportedly a resident there, with authorities examining why the woman had gone to the location.
Investigators are also focusing on the relationship between the man and the 45-year-old woman, as information available so far suggests that they may not have been married.
The Homicide Department’s investigation remains in full progress as authorities seek to establish the motive behind the femicide and the exact circumstances that led to the crime.
