A tragedy unfolded in Serres on Wednesday afternoon (27/05), when a 10-year-old boy was found dead inside an irrigation canal.
According to local news site Infonews24, police were alerted to the incident around 12:00 p.m. in the Irakleia area, prompting an immediate emergency response from the authorities.
The child was discovered in the irrigation canal and was pulled out unconscious.
An EKAB ambulance rushed to the scene and transported the boy to the Irakleia Health Center, where his death was confirmed.
The body of the 10-year-old is expected to be transferred to Thessaloniki for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
The case is being investigated by the Irakleia Police Department.
