A tragedy unfolded in Volos on March 25, when a fire broke out in a house following a powerful explosion, leading to the deaths of two individuals.
According to the Fire Service, which rushed to the scene, two bodies were recovered from the house and have not yet been identified.
One seriously injured person, younger in age, was rescued from the house and has been taken to hospital. He has sustained severe burns and has already been intubated, while doctors are considering transferring him to a specialized burns unit once his condition stabilizes. According to the local outlet The Newspaper, the incident occurred shortly before 16:00 on Wednesday (25/03), with the loud explosion disturbing the neighborhood and causing panic among residents.
The same reports indicate that the two people living in the house were two women, a mother and daughter, approximately 80 and 60 years old respectively. Sixteen firefighters with six vehicles are operating at the scene, while the circumstances that led to the explosion remain unknown. However, initial estimates suggest a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder explosion.
