Weather: A brief respite with slightly cooler temperatures – where rain is expected

A drop in temperature and a significant strengthening of winds are expected in the coming days, following the very high temperatures recorded across the country.

More specifically, today, Friday (03/07), temperatures are expected to fall slightly in the north, although in the central mainland the mercury will still locally reach 36 to 37 degrees Celsius, while local showers are forecast mainly in mountainous areas.

More specifically, there will be few clouds, temporarily increased over mainland areas in the midday–afternoon hours, with local rain or showers and, mainly in mountainous regions, isolated thunderstorms.

Winds will blow from the north-northwest at 3 to 5 Beaufort, locally up to 6 Beaufort in southeastern areas and from the afternoon also in the northern Ionian Sea.

Temperatures will drop slightly in the north. They will reach 30 to 33°C in the Cyclades, northern Crete, the islands of the eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese, and 33 to 35°C in the rest of the country, locally 36 to 37°C in mainland areas.

MACEDONIA, THRACE

Weather: Few clouds, locally increased mainly in the midday–afternoon hours with local rain or showers and, mainly in mountainous areas, isolated thunderstorms.
Winds: From northern directions up to 4 Beaufort, temporarily in coastal areas during midday–afternoon turning from southern directions with the same intensity.
Temperature: 20 to 34°C, locally 35°C. In western Macedonia 2–3 degrees lower.

IONIAN ISLANDS, EPIRUS, WESTERN CENTRAL GREECE, WESTERN PELOPONNESE

Weather: Generally fair. In the mainland areas, midday–afternoon clouds temporarily increasing with local showers and mainly in mountainous areas isolated thunderstorms.
Winds: West-northwest 3 to 5 Beaufort, locally up to 6 Beaufort in the northern Ionian Sea from the afternoon.
Temperature: 21 to 33°C, locally in inland areas 34–35°C. In the interior of Epirus 2–3 degrees lower.

THESSALY, EASTERN CENTRAL GREECE, EVIA, EASTERN PELOPONNESE

Weather: Generally fair. In the mainland areas, midday–afternoon clouds temporarily increasing with local rain or showers and mainly in mountainous parts of Thessaly and eastern Central Greece isolated thunderstorms.
Winds: Variable 3 to 4 Beaufort, in southern areas southerly 4 to 5 Beaufort.
Temperature: 21 to 36–37°C.

CYCLADES, CRETE

Weather: Generally fair with a few temporary clouds in the midday–afternoon hours over mountainous areas of Crete, where local showers are possible.
Winds: West-northwest 4 to 5 Beaufort and locally up to 6 in Crete.
Temperature: 23 to 31°C. In northern Crete locally 32–33°C.

EASTERN AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANESE

Weather: Generally fair.
Winds: In the eastern Aegean islands northerly 4 to 5 Beaufort, locally 6; in the Dodecanese west-northwest 5 to 6 Beaufort.
Temperature: 23 to 33–34°C.

ATTICA

Weather: Generally fair. In the midday–afternoon hours, temporary clouds mainly in western and northern mountainous areas where local showers are possible.
Winds: Variable 3 Beaufort, and in southern and eastern areas southerly up to 4 Beaufort in the afternoon.
Temperature: 24 to 33–34°C, 2–3 degrees lower along coastal areas.

THESSALONIKI

Weather: Few clouds, temporarily increased in the midday–afternoon hours with local showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms in surrounding mountainous areas.
Winds: Northwest 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Temperature: 20 to 34–35°C.

FORECAST FOR SATURDAY 04-07-2026

In Central Macedonia, eastern Thessaly, the Sporades, Evia and gradually in Central Greece, the Peloponnese and the Ionian Islands, increased cloudiness with local rain and scattered thunderstorms. From the afternoon, phenomena will gradually weaken and stop in most areas by night.

In other mainland areas, the eastern Aegean islands and Crete, there will be few clouds that will increase in the midday–afternoon hours with local rain or showers and mainly in mountainous areas isolated thunderstorms.

In the Cyclades and the Dodecanese, generally fair weather.

Winds will blow from northern directions 3 to 5 Beaufort, in the seas up to 6 and from the afternoon locally 7 Beaufort.

Temperatures will drop, mainly in mainland areas. They will reach 30–33°C in the islands and 34–35°C in mainland Greece.

FORECAST FOR SUNDAY 05-07-2026

On Sunday (05-07-2026) generally fair weather across almost the entire country. A few local showers in the morning in eastern mainland areas, the Sporades and Evia, and in the afternoon in western Peloponnese.

Strengthening northerly winds, locally in the Aegean up to 8 Beaufort.

Temperatures will not exceed 33–34°C nationwide.
